On August 24, 2017, the Office of International Affairs held an orientation session for international students participating in the exchange/visiting student program where information on life in Korea, academic calendar, university facilities, opening of a bank account and campus tour was provided at Sanghuh Hall.
The total number of exchange students from 72 universities in 22 countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, Mexico, Morocco, the US, Vietnam, Spain, the UK, Italy, Japan, China, Colombia, and Portugal, who will study at Konkuk University during the fall semester is 136.
“I’m absolutely thrilled about campus life here at Konkuk. I want to make lots of friends and experience various Korean culture.” Mr. Vallejo Rico Victor, Spanish student from Vesalius College, Belgium, said.During the event, international students received souvenirs and detailed information on academic calendar, campus life, and immigration issues from the Office of International Affairs. They also registered for courses and took a campus tour in groups with help from Konkuk’s International Student Volunteers (ISV).In the evening, a welcome party was thrown for international students in the lobby of the Art & Design Building. 150 students, including exchange students who have studied since the spring semester, attended the party. Ms. Alala Nancy Akeyo, Kenyan student from University of Applied Sciences Wuerzburg-Schweinfurt, Germany, offered welcome greetings on behalf of all students.
“I was so satisfied with campus life at Konkuk that I decided to extend my stay for 1 more semester. I hope you will learn, enjoy and experience a lot here.” She said.
“We strive to provide every student from all corners of the globe with top-notch service. And we, the Office of the International Affairs, will help you to become a leader taking the lead in the global era by offering a wide range of international exchange programs.” Ms. MinKyoung Kim, Vice President for International Affairs mentioned.
“We came to learn about Korea.”
On August 24, 2017, the Center for International Faculty and Student Services of the Office of International Affairs, hosted a new student orientation session for international students who entered Konkuk in the fall semester.
199 Undergraduate students from 4 countries, including China, Japan and Hong Kong, participated in the orientation which was held at PRIME hall, Student Union Bldg. The event was organized to solve problems that international students who have difficulty understanding academic regulations may be faced with.
Throughout the event, the center gave necessary information on leave of absence/ returning to university and requirements for graduation.
