On November 8, 2017, Konkuk University (KU) won the Presidential Award for outstanding quality management in the field of education at the 43rd National Quality Management Convention, held at the COEX Auditorium.
The National Quality Management Convention, hosted by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) under the umbrella of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and organized by the Korea Standards Association (KSA), is an award presentation ceremony where contributors to the development of the national economy with excellent management achievements through quality management activities are given the Presidential Awards.
KU was selected after receiving high scores in overall categories, including leadership, strategy, customer satisfaction, knowledge management, human resources management, operations management and management performance. Particularly, KU was recognized for its development goal, “PRIME KONKUK 2020”, where educational philosophy and key directions of previous goals are reflected after improvement in order to proactively respond to changes in management environment of universities and for its efforts to fulfil its top 30 core tasks covering six areas, including education, industry-university cooperation, management, research, reputation and internationalization, according to the three-step action plans it devised.
“KU has been endeavoring to rebuild the nation through education based on the values of Sincerity, Fidelity and Righteousness over last 86 years. Following our educational philosophy we have cherished for a long time, we are preparing for KU’s 100th anniversary. To that end, we will speed up extensive innovation in education for nurturing talent possessing interdisciplinary who will play pivotal roles in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution entering the Information Age and gain the deep respect from the local and global communities,” said KU President Sanggi Min who participated in the ceremony on behalf of KU.
