On December 29, 2017, Konkuk University (KU) announced that it has been accredited by the Korean University Accreditation Institute (KUAI), Korean Council for University Education, for two consecutive periods.

Following the first cycle of Institutional Accreditation (2011 ~ 2015), the Korean University Accreditation Institute (KUAI) was again designated as an Implementing Institute of Institutional Accreditation receiving accreditation applications from universities and conducting an evaluation process in five-year intervals.

Certificates of accreditation written in Korean and English are granted to universities receiving accreditation which means that they satisfy the demands of international organizations such as UNESCO and OECD regarding comprehensive assurance of quality of higher education. In addition, they can gain competitive advantage when competing for government funding. “This accreditation demonstrates that KU is widely and officially acknowledged to be a high quality education provider. I will try my utmost to accelerate innovation of education for nurturing talent possessing qualifications needed in a future society,” said KU President Sanggi Min.
