On October 27, 2017, Konkuk University’s exchange and visiting students took a field trip to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and 63 building. 103 students and staff members, including 89 exchange and visiting students, visited Imjingak where numerous statues and monuments commemorating the Korean War are located, the DMZ which splits the Korean peninsula in half creating a buffer zone between North Korea and South Korea, the Third Tunnel which was dug by North Koreans to invade South Korea, Dora Observatory where the North Korean propaganda village situated in the DMZ can be seen and 63 building, a skyscraper on Yeouido Island.
“Many of us were satisfied with the tour thanks to the well-organized program. Especially, it was very interesting to see North Korea closest at hand. As a student studying political science, the tour was quite meaningful in that I could learn about the inter-Korean relations I had never known before by watching the video of the history of the DMZ and visiting the Third Tunnel,” said French student Leiser Alise.
