On November 14, 2017, Konkuk University (KU) signed an MoU with Guatemalan INTECAP (El Instituto Técnico de Capacitación y Productividad, English Translation: The Technical Institute of Training and Productivity) for implementation of an ODA project and facilitation of mutual exchange in the Administration Building.
KU President Saggi Min, KU Institute for International Development Cooperation Vice Director Yongsoo Kwon, KU Office of International Affairs Vice President Minkyung Kim, International Cooperation, Policy Planning Office the President of Guatemala Undersecretary Roxana Michelle Prieto Andrade and Global Unions Coordinator Jose David Morales Calder’on attended the MoU signing ceremony. At the ceremony, they discussed ways to help the INTECAP to model on operation model of KU Start-up Support Center and to ramp up cooperation for sending KU students to Guatemala for training.
The Guatemalan delegation also visited KU Museum and KU Smart Factory. During the stay in Korea, they are scheduled to take field trips to the Global Institute for Transferring Skills, HRD Korea, Korea Polytechnic and factories of Samsung and LG.
INTECAP which is under the umbrella of the Ministry of Labor was established to contribute to vocational training of Guatemalan nationals and development of industries in 1972. It consists of a 24-member joint committee, five central training centers and 27 local training centers.
