On June 9, Konkuk University announced that it ranked 68th among the most innovative universities in Asia by Reuters. In the second annual ranking that identifies higher educational institutions contributing to advancing science and inventing new technologies, 22 universities in Korea were included, with KAIST and Seoul National University ranking first and second, respectively.
The media and financial data agency partnered with Clarivate Analytics to compile this year’s ranking. After identifying more than 600 educational institutions, non-profit charities, and government-funded institutions that published the highest number of articles in academic journals, they narrowed the list to those that filed at least 50 patents with the World Intellectual Property Organization during 210-2015. Then ten different metrics measuring academic papers and patents were applied to determine the ranking of the universities based on innovative capacity and achievement.
