On February 23, 2018, Like a local Inc,. a KU student startup, won the preliminary round of the Global Mobile Internet Creative Development Competition KOREA (MIC), on the Pangyo Startup Campus.
The MIC hosted by International Digital Group China (IDG China), China’s biggest venture capital firm, is composed of seven preliminary rounds took place in China, Norway, Finland, Silicon Valley in US, Korea, Hongkong, and Macao and a final round where two promising startups who were selected through the preliminary rounds will compete will be held in June in Guangzhou, China.
韩国问我 (Hangook wonwo) developed and operated by Like a local Inc,. is a Q&A platform allowing any Chinese tourist to send questions about a trip to Korea to local Koreans. The platform has 20,000 monthly active users coming from China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
“This competition is such a golden opportunity to attract investment from China. I am going to provide Chinese tourists with services across all parts of trip, including accommodation, flights, and activities,” said Seong-jun Hyeon, Class of 2011, Department of International Trade, the president of Like a local Inc,.
In addition to this, Like a local Inc,. established a joint venture in Tianjin, China, with investment from Sinosteel corporation after being chosen as a member of the company’s Venture Incubation Program.
