Konkuk University (KU)’s commencement ceremony took place at the New Millennium Hall on August 22, 2018. 2,282 graduate and undergraduate students from the main campus in Seoul and the GLOCAL campus in Chungju received their degrees. A total of 135 doctoral degrees, 736 master’s degrees, and 1,411 undergraduate degrees were conferred.
PhD student, Jung-min Ahn (Graduate School), graduate student Yoo-ga Jung (Graduate School), graduate student Sung-dong Kang (Graduate School of Business), graduate student Gwang-hee Kim (Graduate School of Public Administration), graduate student Ji-ae Shin (Graduate School of Education), graduate student Eun-jin Lee (Graduate School of Engineering), graduate student Jae-bum Ko (Graduate School of Agriculture & Animal Science), graduate student Hyang-hee Bae (Graduate School of Mass Communication & Public Relations), graduate student Hyun-ju Lee (Graduate School of Information and Telecommunications), graduate student Joo-yeon Han (Graduate School of Art & Design), graduate student Young-koo Park (Graduate School of Real Estate Studies), graduate student Myo-sun Jang were presented with President’s Award.
Furthermore, Dean’s Award was given to 15 students, including PhD student Min-joo Kim (Graduate School) and graduate student Woo-ga No (Graduate School).
On the congratulatory remarks, KU President Sanggi Min said “I encourage all students’ passion and their hardworking who received their degree today, and I hope you to think today’s commencement ceremony as a starting point, not the end. Also, always ask yourself whether your behavior and value are based on sincerity, fidelity, and righteousness, KU’s education philosophy.”
And he added “to become a center of 4th industrial evolution, it is important to rapidly adopt change and continuously make preparation for your communication skills. Having communication with various people will provide you to come up with new idea and way.”
Also, he mentioned “we should not be afraid of change but be brave and face a challenge. And I hope everyone should be proud of being one of students at KU and develop your own bright future while not being intimidated in the competitive society.”
Since its establishment in 1931, KU has produced approximately 220,000 graduates who have devoted themselves to the nation and human society by putting their sincerity, fidelity, and righteousness, KU’s education philosophy, into practice in our society.
