Konkuk University’s overseas volunteer group, KUmbrella, visited Cambodia Siem Reap region to build a house for local people during summer vacation from July 11th to 20th.
During summer in 2018, 22 volunteers of KUmbrella did house building and cultural exchange activity for local people, and educational volunteer work for local children with Korea Habitat for Humanity while staying at Siem Reap region, the northwestern part of Cambodia. Siem Reap region is having a hard time with their life suffering from natural disaster such as flood, drought and typhoon.
Konkuk University’s KUmbrella has started their first overseas volunteer work in 2003. Since then, they visit overseas every summer and winter break in connection with Habitat for Humanity’s house building program and doing house building work with local people and educational volunteer and cultural activity work for local elementary school students and local people.
Meanwhile, they have been visiting underdeveloped countries such as Philippines, India, Mongolia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Cambodia where in need of their help and doing house building work. KUmbrella send around 40 students overseas for their volunteer work every two times a year.
