The Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) has rated the performance of KU Office of Career Development and Placement’s Commission of the Employment for Students as ‘excellent’ for two consecutive years (2016 and 2017). KU Center for IPP (Industry Professional Practice) Project’s performance has also been rated ‘excellent’.
The Employment Center for Students project has been initiated and managed by the MOEL to provide enrolled students and local young men with customized employment services by functionally and spatially connecting and integrating startup and employment support systems of universities, collaborating with the industry and promoting overseas employment.
Konkuk University (KU), selected as the operator of the Employment Center for Students in 2016, has been running a variety of programs with the funds, totaling KRW 2900 million, that have been funneled since 2016.
The Korea Employment Information Service evaluated the performance of the universities that have been operating the Employment Centers for Students over last two years and rated excellent, fair or unsatisfactory.
Through this project, KU became the first university in Korea to sign MoUs on internship with outstanding public institutions, including the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Moreover, KU has offered differentiated programs by hosting a job fair focused on overseas employment where a staff member working at Google headquarters was invited in order to encourage overseas employment.
This year, the university is going to implement an IPP program for female students by concluding an MoU with the King Sejong Institute Foundation, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
“We will make our utmost effort to present a solution for youth unemployment by running more innovative and pioneering programs in 2018,” said Jong-bae Park, Vice President for Career Development and Placement.
