On January 5, 2018, Konkuk University announced that Professor Doo-kyung Moon of the Department of Materials Chemical & Engineering, Professor Chul-goo Kang of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Chang-jin Lee of the Department of Aerospace Engineering were selected as members of the NAEK (National Academy of Engineering of Korea), a prestigious non-profit and non-governmental organization of the engineering professions.
About the National Academy of Engineering of Korea:The National Academy of Engineering of Korea is the highest academy of engineering which was established in 1996 to discover and recruit talented engineers and to develop engineering and technology. It has a membership of 1089 including 277 senior members, 343 members, 397 emeritus members and 71 foreign members.
The institution consists of top-notch experts who have substantially contributed to national development with their outstanding research performance and innovative technology development while working in universities, research institutes and companies. The NAEK receives nominations and recommendations of candidates in the first half of the year then selects members through a four-stage assessment process such as evaluation of achievement and a vote in the second half of the year. Persons who have been passionately working in the field of engineering and industrial technology for over fifteen years and dedicated themselves to academic research, industrial technology, research & development, policies and education on industrial technology are eligible for membership.
