Expecting Synergy with Digital New Technology Talent Nurturing Innovation Sharing University Project
Konkuk University signed an MOU with YNC&S, a business corporation for culture & content space, on the 17th to establish an industry-academic cooperation system to foster talent and proceed with research in future content.President Young Jae Jeon and CEO Hae Min Yoo have attended the signing agreement held at the main meeting room, Administration Building of Konkuk University.Throughout the agreement, the two institutions will jointly work on education, research and startup programs of future content based on ‘I-DMC; Immersive Digital Media Center’, which will be built on Multi-Culture Convergence Complex in Uijeongbu on the target year of 2025 for its completion.To be more specific, some of their plans include *research, education and startup cooperation in rapidly changing digital content *customized global talent training system through field trip and career education program *spread of industry-academic cooperation education through Innovation Sharing University projects (immersive media) *joint promotion for research cooperation.President Jeon said, “As a leading university of Innovation Sharing University projects (immersive media) held by the Ministry of Education, Konkuk University will take the head in new industries and training global/creative convergence talents through the agreement,” and, “By building a systematic cooperation system with YNC&S, we will create synergy for content/entertainment businesses and actively support them.”CEO Yoon said, “The goal of YNC&S is to create value as a production infrastructure by maximizing the use of video content and entertainment businesses with the establishment of multi-studio complexes for movies, dramas, music videos, online concerts and e-sports competitions resulting in high-value-added content production,” adding, “We will offer infrastructure that students can make innovative video content by organizing an R&D center for cutting-edge production technology in the field of special video. Through the industry-academic cooperation with Konkuk University, we will not just ensure infrastructure to nurture future talent but increase public interest utilization as an industry research laboratory.”YNC&S is a joint corporation established by YG entertainment, Naver, Wysiwyg Studios, NP and Nexon Korea with the purpose of developing studios as core infrastructures of future cultural content industry. In the year 2025, it is planning to complete its construction of ‘I-DMC’ where people can produce state-of-the-art technology-based media content using VFX and XR in Sangok-dong, Uijeongbu-si. I-DMC consists of a total of five multi studios including two mega studios with a size of 1,000 pyeong, two VFX mega studios with a size of 600 pyeong and one e-sports arena with a size of 1,000 peyong.Konkuk University and YNC&S will endeavor together to foster next-generation talents and secure long-term industry competitiveness while implementing a leading model of industry-academic cooperation.Through the agreement, it is expected that Konkuk University will seize the initiative in the ‘Digital New Technology Talent Nurturing Innovation Sharing University Project’. Konkuk University will specialize in immersive media with ‘Metaverse’ and provide theoretical and of course, practical education including field trips and internship opportunities.
