Konkuk University Medical Center has ranked 59th in orthopedic surgery, 112th in gastroenterology and 167th in oncology in the ‘Best Specialized Hospitals 2022’ evaluation announced by the U.S. Newsweek.Orthopedic surgery, in particular, has ranked 6th in Korea after Asan Medical Center (12th), Kyung Hee University Medical Center (18th), Seoul National University Hospital (28th), Kangbuk Samsung Hospital (48th) and Gangnam Severance Hospital (49th).‘Newsweek’, a world-wide weekly media, partnered with a data company, Statista, for two months from June to August 2021, conducting an online survey to 40,000 medical professionals from 20 countries around the globe.The ranking by each segment was determined based on the recommended score (70%) of medical workers including doctors, health professionals, hospital managers and etc, and the ranking score (30%) of a group of medical professionals.Director Jung Hong-Geun from Department of Orthopedic Surgery said, “The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Konkuk University Medical Center will lead the Korean orthopedic medical community in both patient treatment and clinical research to live up to the reputation of the 58th hospital in the world,” adding, “We will serve the pivotal role in treatment of orthopedic patients.”Director Cheon Young-Koog from Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology stated, “It is well known that the U.S. Newsweek strictly evaluates best specialized hospitals based on various areas such as medical staff’s expertise, excellence in research, international exchange and the latest treatments,” and, “As a director, I feel proud that the Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Konkuk University Medical Center was highly praised.
