Department of Digital Culture & Contents

Konkuk University’s (KU) Department of Culture and Contents Science, established in 2010, is designed to cultivate new talented individuals to enter the industry of cultural contents. Cultural contents is a new leading industry in the 21st century and has a growing demand for organizers, producers and marketers in a wide range of fields, such as movies, animations, games, characters, theme parks, and cultural planning. It comprises a combination of disciplines based on the studies of humanities, and incorporates active engagement with contemporary theory and practice to foster global leaders in the digital society. Since 2006, KU has raised 100 students with majors in culture and contents science. In 2008, the school opened M.A. and Ph.D. courses to produce specialists in the field. KU is currently the only school in Seoul that provides a complete track of B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs in the field of cultural contents. With this opportunity, the Department of Culture & Contents Science has put in place the most optimum conditions for elevating the school's prestige, namely its teaching staff, curriculum and industrial-academic partnerships.

Our mission is to cultivate creative contents directors that are global planners. In order to carry out this mission, we are operating an interdisciplinary program based on studies of humanities to enhance both the education of students and the practical components of the course to support the development of students’ skills and competency through job training with affiliated professors, individual counseling through mentoring systems, lecture-based group projects, and financial aid in overseas courses and club activities.
