Department of Clothing

The Department of Clothing at Konkuk University (KU) is divided into the majors 1) Clothing Design and Total Coordination, Fashion Marketing, and Clothing Construction and Clothing Comfort Science, and 2) Textile Design.

Firstly, the objective of the majors Clothing Design and Total Coordination, Fashion Marketing, and Clothing Construction and Clothing Comfort Science is to enhance students’ understanding as well as functional knowledge and skills regarding clothing-related demands. We take into account the characteristics of the study of clothing as a whole; for example, functionality, product planning and marketing, and creative design development in accordance with a balanced consideration of aesthetic, social, and scientific factors.

Secondly, the objective of the Textile Design Major is to build students’ knowledge and functional skills necessary for the high value-added textiles and materials industry by developing their aesthetic awareness and creativity, allowing them to efficiently apply techniques and expressions through a range of materials in the context of modern textile design.

In addition to academic research, the ultimate goal of these two majors is the development of field experts able to work in a range of professions. We aim to foster professionals capable of meeting the demands of society in a rapidly changing, competitive age. For this purpose, we aim to cultivate outstanding and creative talent through even more systematic and defined academic research in the area of clothing studies. We offer both master's and Ph.D. degrees with majors available in Clothing Design and Total Coordination, Fashion Marketing, Clothing Construction and Clothing Comfort Science, and Textile Design. We will continue our endeavors in producing refined and talented professionals who set lofty objectives for themselves and helping them achieve the very best in their chosen major.
