Department of Industrial Design

The aim of the Department of Industrial Design at Konkuk University (KU) is to train professional designers able to contribute to society through continual research into creative design, the possibilities of media, and new technologies within the cultural and historical contexts of design. In order to accomplish this objective, the major in industrial design provides an integrated educational program that brings information, objects, and environments together with expert training in product and environment design.

The Department of Industrial Design trains future designers, capable of making contributions to society, in design theory, hands-on skills, and experience in working with various forms of media. In particular, we seek to maximize the level of specialization in each field in addition to the teaching effectiveness of integrated design education models liberally incorporating specific areas of design. Our ultimate objective is to develop creative designers aware of their role in society social responsibilities through the understanding of humans, society, technology, philosophy and culture.
